The Beach School PTA is having another successful year working with our school community. Currently we are 100 members strong and growing. Many of you may know the PTA from our fund raising activities but the PTA is much more than that. We are part of a national organization which is a powerful voice for the students and schools across the country. The mission of the Oregon PTA is:

  1. To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children
  2. To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children
  3. To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation

Those may sound like daunting tasks but they are the key principles by how we try to partner with our kids and school. Throughout the year we are constantly thinking of ways to improve our school community. In the first half of this year we have sponsored the following activities:

  • Fall Harvest Night
  • Love and Logic Parenting Classes
  • Mini-Grants for all teachers at Beach School
  • Plus many other activities in and out of the school

Being a part of the PTA is very exciting opportunity for any parent of a Beach student as you get to be a part of school in a meaningful way. Just this year we as PTA outline three strategic goals that we are using as guiding principles.

  • Ensuring that the physical environment is welcoming, well maintained and sustainable/healthy
  • Improving Student Enrichment Programs
  • Strengthening Community and Outreach

Bottom line the Beach PTA is a vibrant, welcoming part of Beach School. We are always looking for more people to be involved. The more people we have the more we can do to ensure Beach is a strong part of the community. All are welcome at our meetings which are on the second Thursday of each month.

Thanks,
PTA President
